Just did 470k with 2 SRBs, amazing! I want to thank Yuri for that! Since I read this guide, I now perform 200% better and am starting to understand the RRPM mechanics.

Btw, I noticed that after I use an echo a bit after checkpoint 4, the echo icon "ligthens" after checkpoint 5. Do you know why?

Yeah, quite frequently. Here is what happens: after the bridge after checkpoint 4, I echo Dash and then use the echoed version just before checkpoint 5; at the end or just after the end of the spiral, icon 6 ligthens as if I finished using it (though it's been disabled since my last use).

I always wondered about one thing... it's silly but I'm nevertheless interested in it.

The timer starts with 600,000 points at the beginning of the race and then goes down by 1,000 points until you reach the finishing line.
Anyone ever tried out what happens if the points hit 0 before someone reaches the goal?

Well I have that too, it's just the timer running out on the echo but it has no effect on your race or anything.

I experience many rollbacks at the two boxes in the water at the cave (with nobody around even), and even more so at the start when all the beetles are still close to you. I often find myself clear ahead of the pack when suddenly I jump back stuck behind a slow ass beetle I thought I had already passed...

I think I'm giving up. I probably wasn't meant to make it to the list, and the SRBs and Echos are seem to be avoiding me like there's no tomorrow. Not one of those today.
Thanks for all the nice tips Yuris and Namkey (and anyone else sharing their observations and tips), at least my hopes were up for a few hours.
I might try all this again once Anet fixes their laggy minigame, and make it more even for everyone.

Exactly the same with me, it happened 2 or 3 times today. As said before, that's not the race that was meant to be. When I got lucky with echo+srb and no lag, I'm still stuck at 470k. I'm wondering where I'm missing the extre 2 or 3k...

Meh I think I give up, too. I went in to race today and had to wait for files to download, and the next thing I know I have "dishonorable" status. Guess it's a crime to download files. That or someone is just being a jerk.

The issue there is:
Anyone not in the race when the start timer hits zero is forced to quit when they load in.
+
Anyone who quits gets 5 points of dishonorable.

Of course you had to have 5 points from somewhere else, but it's still a bad system that punishes first time players (who need to download) and those with slow computers/connections (though they probably won't be doing well anyway).

It happened after I tried to load in twice; for some reason it forced me to load both times. But it's good to know that it's not just crappy people and just a funky mechanic.

I guess I'm just unlucky. The one time I get an echo and a sb in the first 2 boxes, I already had a 3 second lagspike at the start. And then other 2 second lagspike at the last gate. End time just 4 seconds short of top 100....

Okay, since I was fed up with the bad reputation Rollerbeetle Race now seems to have, I recorded some of my runs.
One of them got quite good in the end and I put it on Youtube...

I have a few questions:

1. How do you know when to use harden shell? On the rare occasions that I do get an Echo+SRB, I still can't post a time above 465k because of the constant Spit rocks and Rollerbeetle blasts, and at the first 2 checkpoints, I always get kd'd by noobs using Ram specifically for that purpose.

2. Since ~50% of the boxes I pull, I get a Distracting Lunge, should I not use these? Or should I just burn them at random or what? Also, about 10% of my boxes give me nothing, even if I currently have no power ups. Is this a glitch or does Jesus hate me?

Something else I noticed. Is it just me or do the chances to get an Echo increase if you already have one? Can't count the times I got 2-4 echos in one run.

whats weird is whenever i use ram i get a really large decrease in rrpms....but you dont realy lose much.....

Anyone else notice that the records chart has been glitchy/ not working lately? I've gotten a few scores that have yet to be posted. I earned the scores about 15-30 minutes ago

Yuri, you have any other secrets you're not telling us, you've got quite a prestigious score going on.
